We're looking for a VP Meetings and Events

You'll produce fantastic, fascinating conferences

People absolutely, positively love our events. They are edgy, creative, and packed so full of new ideas that heads explode by the end of the day.

We're looking for an experienced executive to manage all meetings and events for this rapidly growing organization. We do cutting-edge programs for very senior executives. Topics for upcoming events include Love in Marketing, Word of Mouth Marketing Camp, and Humor in Business.

The format is usually the standard two-day, 10-panel, 60 speakers, executive-type event ... but the speakers are amazing, the pace is fast, ideas are deep, and there is never a boring minute. We also do smaller events, webinars, unconferences, and meetings. We speak at up to 10 events each month, and you'll coordinate our presence at them for maximum impact.

You'll be building the events department from scratch. That means that you need to do absolutely everything for the first event, then recruit your team and outside vendors for future events. Compensation will include a juicy performance bonus.

<u><strong>Skills/experience needed:</strong></u>

<ul><li>5-10 years proven experience in all aspects of event management with full P&L responsibility.
<li>Incredibly stable, organized, and good-humored.
<li>Focus on executive-level conferences (we don't do trade shows or exhibits).
<li>Experience with conference web sites, online registration, and email. All of our marketing is online, so we value web experience over print/direct mail experience.
<li>Familiarity with marketing-industry topics, ability to write agendas and work with speakers to improve content.
<li>Strategic planning and solid management experience.
<li>Exceptional writing, communication, and computer skills.
<li>Demonstrable experience as a self-starting, self-managed executive who can operate with limited support and supervision.</ul>

<u><strong>How to apply:</strong></u>

Send cover letter, resume, and salary requirements by email to Preston Firestone at <a href="mailto:pf@gaspedal.com">pf@gaspedal.com</a>. We're looking for a:

Web & Print Designer/Producer

I like your work. It's got good clean design. Elegant but simple style. Clean layout and navigation. I assume you did it all yourself. Created the graphics, styled it, grabbed some open source applets.

Can you do the same for us? I've got a great job for you if you can.

We're looking for a webmaster/print designer who can take over our web sites, blogs, and print design. You're going to improve the graphics, stabilize our brand look, add new features, and make it more interesting. Then you're going to build something new every month or so. A new blog. A community. A cool mailing.

You won't be working on any old web site. Our blogs are where bloggers go to debate the future of blogging. Our sites provide the spark that starts the conversation.

You'll be the main creative person in the company, implementing a consistent look and feel across our web sites and print material. When we need outside help, you'll supervise external agencies or freelancers. You will be a core part of our team (not the geek in the basement).

<u><strong>The Job:</strong></u>
<strong>Web design and production - 50%:</strong>
<ul><li>Your primary job will be to manage our web sites, blogs, and emails. Get our content online, out the door, looking great, smartly coded.
<li>You'll create and edit Web pages, build new sites, and re-style off-the-shelf applications (like blogs and shopping carts).</ul>
<strong>Graphic design and production - 30%: </strong>
<ul><li>Develop a fantastic and consistent brand look and implement it across various media, including print marketing material, reports, PowerPoint, flyers, etc.
<li>We value a super-clean, white-spaceful, bold-primary-colorful look.
<li>Think Gap/Crate & Barrel/Apple, but with some splashes of color.
<li>We work mostly in Adobe Creative Suite.</ul>
<strong>Web development - 20%:</strong>
<ul><li>Maintain our web server, install new programs, test new software.
<li>You don't need to be a coder/programmer, but you need to be able to keep things working on a Linux platform.
<li>We like to play with open-source tools.
<li>Most of the site is driven by Movable Type.
<li>The pages are pretty clean CSS (but we like them cleaner).
<li>We have fun seeing how far we can take a free piece of software.
<li>We're playing with Pligg, Drupal, and Ning.</ul>

If you have a different combination of skills, please do still contact us. We're flexible and will change the job for the right person.

Send resume, links to portfolio, and salary requirements by email to Preston Firestone at <a href="mailto:pf@gaspedal.com">pf@gaspedal.com</a>. The subject of your email should read: "G115 Creative, Your Name." GasPedal is an equal opportunity employer. This is a full-time position based in Chicago, hiring immediately. No relocation assistance is provided.
